North Shore Med Spa is proud to offer Kybella injections in Long Island. Kybella is the only FDA approved injection for adults that treats submental fullness (double chin) by destroying fat cells without surgery or downtime. Submental fullness can be caused by weight gain, genetics, or aging.

According to a 2015 survey by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, 67% of consumers are bothered by fat below the chin. Kybella utilizes deoxycholic acid which naturally occurs within the body. The targeted injections dissolves the fat cells in the submental region, and prevents them from accumulating fat – even with future weight gain.

Who Can Benefit?

Kybella is not the most effective solution for all patients, and can only be recommended by your doctor. Because it targets the fat cells below the skin, it is not an ideal solution for patients with large amounts of excess skin, or low skin elasticity. It is also not an option for patients with an infection in the treatment area.

Kybella may be right for patients who:

  • Are self-conscious or unhappy with the fat under the chin
  • Feel that the fat under the chin gives an impression of increased age or weight
  • Are not willing to have surgery
  • Eat well and exercise, but have not reduced fat under the chin

Long Island Kybella Injections

At North Shore Medical Spa, your journey to reduce double chin begins with a consultation. During this appointment, your doctor will learn about your goals, evaluate the treatment area, and determine a projected course of Kybella treatments. This will determine the amount of injections that you will receive, as well as the number of treatments.

Following the consultation, you are eligible to receive your first course of treatments. Each treatment will occur at least one month apart, with a maximum of six possible treatments, depending on the severity of the fullness and the desired results. Each injection appointment takes about 20-30 minutes.

Due to the speed of the treatment, most patients experience no downtime following the injections. The most common side effects include swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area. Side effects are usually temporary and often resolve on their own.
